Great, until the label wears off

I have a black iPhone and a black rubber case for it, so when I was in need of a supplemental cable, I decided to go with black too. Apple-branded cables only come in white, and are overpriced. So I went with a Moshi cable that seemed to exude quality.

It uses nice, rubbery, robust matte cable, and ends are good-quality, shiny plastic. Both the USB and dock connector ends seat well, with just the right amount of friction. But after about four months of use, the Moshi logo that serves both as advertising and as an indication of which side of the plug is "up", is all but gone. Aside from this logo, the plug seems symmetrical.

Now I simply try one way, and if it doesn't fit, turn it around and try the other way. This is now poor usability, all because Moshi skimped on the printing process. Curiously, the USB side is still clear, though come to think of it, that side gets handled a lot less.

The Apple cables seem to retain their logo forever. Maybe it's worth the extra cost, and worth settling for white.

This is a tiny little detail. But it is the kind of detail that Mr. Jobs would have cared about, and this is a review of a cable, after all. Moshi, this product, mundane as it is, is an advertisement for your brand. And it is a failure.
